The morning starts among the hives. Kastrioti has kept bees on these slopes all his life, and he opens a hive for you, explains what the bees are foraging on that week - thyme, sage, wild oregano, chestnut - and lets you taste the honey raw, the way it comes out.
From the bee park you walk up into the stone villages above town: cobbled lanes, slate roofs, and the small Orthodox churches with their hand-painted frescoes. Your guide grew up here and knows whose door to knock on. Easy walking, four to five hours, back in Përmet for lunch.
